Dear Club Member

Based on the Government’s latest advice and Wednesdays vote on a national lockdown

As of midnight on Thursday 5 November, all British Cycling & British Triathlon activities and events in England will be temporarily suspended in line with the new national restrictions being introduced.

The suspension of club, group, coaching activities and events will last until Thursday 3 December.

Where possible we encourage you to keep active during this time, while following government guidelines about safe distance and safe exercise environments.

We will of course continue to follow and assess Government advice, and you can do the same via the following links:

UK Government
NHS England

If you are out and about at the weekend enjoy and ride safely.Kind regards NCTC Committee

On Thursday, British Cycling updated their guidance regarding Coronavirus.

The details can be found here:- https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/about/article/20200512-about-bc-news-British-Cycling-Updated-Coronavirus-Guidance-0

Essentially the revisions are to reflect the new 1 meter plus distancing following mitigations from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

The really important fact remains however that on ANY club group ride please DO NOT ride in more than groups of 6.

Regardless of the social impact of not following the above guidance and the impression it will give of the club insurance cover provided to members and clubs will be also invalid if we are found to be wilfully contravening Government advice – ie. riding in large groups of more than six – or participating in activities which are currently suspended.

If you are out and about at the weekend enjoy and ride safely.Kind regardsNCTC Committee

Dear Club Member

Today it has been confirmed that CTT Type B ‘club’ events can be held from and including Monday 13 July 2020

Therefore we are delighted to announce that our evening TT programme will be able to start on Wednesday 15th July at Bottisham - 1st rider off @ 19.00

In addition to the usual requirements, hard helmet, rear light, etc., the following will be necessary to ensure we and you meet all the revised guidelines:-Competitors should not attend if they feel ill in ANY way or if family members have any COVID-19 symptoms.
An elevated resting heart rate or exceptionally quick to react heart rate during warm up can suggest an underlying asymptomatic illness of ANY kind. You should NOT start the event (DNS) and leave immediately. Do not go to the start line if you feel this is the case and notify the organiser of your intention not to start as a result of an adverse warmup.
All warm-ups should be done on the road. Static warm-ups are prohibited.
Riders MUST NOT gather in anyway regardless of current guidelines in the car park, HQ area or elsewhere.
No support can be provided if a competitor suffers mechanical difficulties. It is strongly advised that all competitors carry with them a spare inner-tube/tubular, pump and tyre levers if required.
It is strongly advised that all competitors carry a mobile phone and take with them the telephone number of the event organiser. Please telephone the organiser if you have failed to finish the event.
The correct entry fee money (£4, or £5 for riders not members of a CTT affiliated club) to be placed by the rider into the receptacle provided.  PLEASE BRING THE CORRECT MONEY
Riders must sign on using THEIR OWN PEN
Riders must pick up their designated number but not handle other numbers.
Riders must attach THEIR OWN NUMBERS
Finishing riders must remove their own numbers only and place them in the receptacle provided. Riders using ‘no pins’ should remove the pins from their number and put the pins in the receptacle provided for used numbers.
Riders must not gather near the time-keepers.
Riders will ‘self-start’: there will NOT be push starts. The normal time countdown from the timekeeper will take place but from a safe distance.
At the conclusion of the event the results will be read out and the result sheet will be suitably placed for those wishing to photograph it.
There will be no rota for putting out or collecting ‘Cycle Event’ signs. This task will be done by one person for the remainder of the season.
The remaining six events on this year’s calendar are dependent on being able to start on 15th July and there being no further changes to the CTT & government guidelines; if the situation does change you will be notified by email.

Regards
NC&TC Committee

Dear Club Member

Recently we were given notification from CTT that our weekly Time Trial series may be able to start again from the 8th July.

However, the guidance released by the government has not been as clear as had been hoped for.  It is anticipated that further clarification will be provided by the government when the amended legislation is published, which is expected on 04 July.As of today CTT have advised that the suspension of Type B ‘club’ events is further extended by one week, up to and including 12th July 2020, this is to allow time to consider the legislation and any further government guidance that may be published around the same time.

Therefore our earliest possible Time Trial will be on the 15th July.

We will wait to see the CTT updates and advise accordingly as things progress.

Kind Regards
NC&TC Committee

NCTC Around the World Challenge

Dear Club Member

We have a club challenge!

To encourage every current club member to keep active and to support the local community we want to try and ride, swim walk or run collectively to reach a total mileage of 24901 miles in 40 days!! (Indoor rides & runs count, as do family walks etc - every mile makes a difference.)

Now, the reason for doing this is to support the local community & we will be donating 100% of the money raised to the Newmarket COVID-19 appeal via this link:- https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/newmarket-cycling-triathlon-club-covid-19-appeal

So we are asking if you could pledge some money for your own and clubmates efforts, ask your family, friends, colleagues, share our plans, shout out load to anyone and everyone, share the crowdfunder link & get people to help make a difference to those in the town that will need help.

All we need is for you to log your distances on a simple sheet that you will find here:- https://tinyurl.com/ycunwzdx

It's really simple - Just 4 steps.

Find you name in column A from the drop down list (you'll need to start at the bottom of the list)

We have started from the 30th May, and have even logged some activities for some of you but please check as we may have missed some!

The sheet will do the rest & to add a bit of spice and club competition there is a running total on the 'leaderboard' tab at the bottom. There will even be spot prizes awarded when we next have an awards night! So keep on pushing!

Please get stuck in, please log your miles and please please please ask people to support your amazing efforts.

Our aim is to try and raise 10% of the mileage total in £££'s so £2490!

NC&TC Committee

Good luck, and lets see if we can smash the target.

Kind Regards

NCTC Committee

Dear Club Member

While many of you have been enjoying the opportunity to ride, swim and run, we appreciate that the cycling & triathlon community is looking for direction and certainty on when club, group and competitive activity can resume.

British Cycling & British Triathlon have provided an update on the current suspension of sanctioned cycling & tri activity, which was due to run until 30 June 2020

The guidance below applies to ALL club group activities such as leading club rides, run sessions, club swim sessions, coaching, instructing and and similar.

British Cycling has extended the current suspension until 4 July 2020 to be consistent with the stages announced by Government. They will review this on a fortnightly basis and we will give two weeks’ notice of any changes.

British Triathlon group activity is suspended until at least 4 July 2020; BTF & Home Nations will maintain a 1-week rolling review of their suspension of group activity such that a minimum of a one-week suspension will always be in place or the suspension will be lifted with one weeks notice.

Until there are more updates please follow the government guidance, follow social distancing and do your bit to help stop the spread of this dreadful virus so we can all get back together soon.

If you have any questions please contact any member of the committee, contact details on the website.

Kind regards
