NCTC Social/Club/Sporting Ride Updates

Club rides Saturday 14th March

The weather is looking OK for this Saturday. This week we will have an additional Transition Ride. The pace of this ride will be steady for the first few miles allowing for everyone to warm up. There will be four interval zones on the route which will allow riders to go as hard as they want in any of these zones. The group will be moving faster through these zones so you can decide whether to stay with the group or do your own effort. At the end of the designated zones the group will reform and ride recovery pace and 5mins and then back to a steady tempo. This ride will be under 45 miles. The pace of this ride is in excess of 16.5mph but not above 18mph. This ride can include a coffee stop.

Can everyone please note not to block the temporary entrance to the NLC. This is very narrow and not suitable to park bikes. Potential members come and join us for a few rides before you commit. Look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Club rides Saturday 29th February – CANCELLED

Just when it looked like we may be able to get out, yet another storm with 40+mph winds is heading our way for Saturday. I’m afraid these wind speeds are just too dangerous to send groups of riders out onto the road, so again, in the interests of safety we are calling off the club rides for this Saturday. Hopefully when we get February out the way, the weather in March will be kinder to us!

Club rides Saturday 22nd February – CANCELLED – Club Ride Sunday 23rd NOW CANCELLED

I’m afraid with storm force gusts of 40+mph on Saturday we will again, in the interests of safety, be cancelling our rides on Saturday. When the gusts get this strong I think it is too dangerous to put groups of riders on the road, so as per our ride guidelines I’m sorry to say we’ll have to wait another week. Sunday’s conditions were looking more favourable but have taken a turn for the worst with 40+mph storm force winds again forecast so unfortunately we’re going to have to cancel this ride as well. Lets hope again for next weekend!!

Club rides Saturday 15th/16th February – CANCELLED

I’m afraid we are not going to beat the weather this weekend. With storm force winds of over 50mph forecast together with heavy rain, in the interests of safety we are cancelling all our club rides for both Saturday and Sunday. We will have a Sunday ride next week to make up for the two we have lost, lets hope for better weather next weekend. Look forward to seeing you all next week.

Club rides Saturday 8th February

The weather is looking OK for Saturday but due to the impending storm we’ve cancelled our first official Sunday ride. Lets hope the weather is better for next Sunday. This Saturday we have an additional Transition Ride. The pace of this ride will be steady for the first few miles allowing for everyone to warm up. There will be four interval zones on the route which will allow riders to go as hard as they want in any of these zones. New NC&TC Rides for February 2020

We will be introducing new rides during February. There will be two official Sunday guided rides on the 9th and 16th February. These will start at 9am from the NLC and will be the identical to our Saturday club ride, i.e. 15-16.5mph and be about 40-45miles. There will also be two Sunday rides in March after which will be assess the response and numbers and decide whether it becomes one of our standard rides.

We are also introducing two extra transition rides on Saturday 8th and 15th February. These rides will be additional to our main three club rides and are designed for those who want to go a little faster/harder than the club ride. These rides will contain interval sessions on sections of the route and/or more hill climbing than usual. These will be perfect for those who need to get ready early season for challenging sportives or those wanting some good early season strength training.
