Who? Tom Lowther is an experienced swim coach from Ely and is also a member of our Saturday morning club rides; Tom is complemented by Kerry Tate, an experienced cyclist and time trialist from our club.
What? Our coached swim sessions aim to provide a structured approach to help our members improve their technique, fitness and times.
When? Our coached swim sessions are on Monday mornings 6am-7am, Tuesday evenings 7pm-8pm and Friday mornings 6am-7am, at Newmarket Leisure Centre, Exning Road, Newmarket, CB8 0EA
How much? To cover the cost of hiring the pool at Newmarket Leisure Centre, each coached session costs £5 (or £30 a month via an online payment) and can be paid online by accessing the following this link or by paying at the poolside. Please DO NOT pay at the Leisure Centre reception, just show them your membership card and tell them that you are there for our coached swim session.
Who? Our run coach is Eliot Bentley, who holds a UK Athletics level 2 coach in running fitness licence and has 10 years experience with our club. These sessions are suitable for anyone over the age of 13 years and of any ability or fitness.
What? Each session starts with a warm-up jog, followed by a mobilisation and dynamic stretching routine. Over the winter months, the focus is given to hill reps and interval work. These help to improve strength and endurance, along with supporting power. During the summer months, our sessions are held on Newmarket Academy’s playing field and involve extra agility hurdle work, along with running strides, prior to a track session.
When? Our coached run sessions are on Monday evenings at 6.30 pm-7.45 pm, leaving from Newmarket Leisure Centre, Exning Road, Newmarket, CB8 0EA. During the summer months, we run on the school track adjoining the Leisure Centre.
How much? Our coached sessions are included within the overall cost of our annual membership fee.
